Hick-Hop Gains Mainstream Momentum

Country rap, or “hick-hop” as it’s sometimes called, is rapidly capturing ground in the race for mainstream music popularity. And while unconventional, the mix of genres has proven to be a match made in musical heaven, both to devoted fans and sponsoring brands alike.

The grand daddy of the hick-hop genre is Colt Ford, a former professional golfer turned musician who raps down-home lyrics over country music hooks.

Cord Management is co-producing the 2nd annual Colt Ford & Friends Celebrity Golf Classic at Chateau Elan near Atlanta on September 22nd and 23rd. The two-day fundraiser pairs corporate sponsors with heavyweight acts like Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts, along with a host of PGA golfers who will make the trek across town after finishing the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. It’s a day of championship golf, followed by a night of great music.
